AmnioAMP-XTM is a collagen matrix suspension allograft carefully selected from placental derived biologics and preserved in fluid form. It is rich in extracellular matrix components that aid in the healing response. The suspension allograft is characterized by the promotion of significant Anti-inflammatory activity and regeneration. AmnioAMP-XTM works by limiting the body’s secondary response to inflammation in the healing process and greatly reduces the risk of complications and failure.
When applied, the suspension allograft is held in place at the site of injury by its nature supplied biomechanical scaffolding on which new tissue can occur. The scaffolding along with the abundant proteins and growth factors helps to avoid secondary fibroblastic deformation of the tissue and supports proper tissue remodeling.
Trauma Management & Reconstruction
The structures within the musculoskeletal system, including the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and other tissues, are highly susceptible to damage caused by trauma from accidents, injuries and other incidents, and may lead to fractures, sprains, strains and other serious conditions. Dr. McKenna and his staff provide comprehensive trauma care for all types of conditions from initial emergency treatment through to recovery.
Treatment for traumatic injuries varies depending on the type, severity and location of the injury, but may include casting, bracing or surgery. After treatment is completed, patients will usually need to undergo physical therapy and/or rehabilitation in order to restore strength and flexibility to the treated area. These programs are customized for each patient’s individual needs to ensure the most effective results.
Orthopedic Expertise & Joint Reconstruction
General orthopedics involves the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and diseases affecting the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles within the body.
Dr. McKenna treats a wide range of orthopedic conditions using conservative, alternative and surgical means depending on each patient’s individual needs. Many conditions require ongoing management in order to relieve symptoms and allow patients to function in their everyday lives. With advanced training and years of experience, Dr. McKenna is often seen for both initial consultations and second opinions.
Treatment for Sports Related Injuries
Sports medicine is a subspecialty of orthopedics that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries suffered during athletic activity. The goal of treatment is to heal and rehabilitate the injury so patients can return to their favorite activities quickly, whether it’s Little League, recreational play or a high school, college or professional sport.
Because of the frequent use, wear-and-tear and risk of a fall or accident associated with sports activities, athletes are often susceptible to orthopedic injuries, including a stress fracture, chronic pain, or a tearing or stretching or internal structures. Different activities place different areas at a higher risk for damage, so it’s important to take the necessary precautions to protect yourself while playing sports. Treatment for these conditions may involve surgery, orthotics, physical therapy and rest.
